Have you booked your wedding vendors yet?
While there is no set ‘rule’ for when you should book each of your wedding vendors, there is a simple response to the question…… “the sooner the better”.
Once you have secured your venue and wedding date, there really is no reason to wait. Most vendors begin taking bookings a year in advance; some, even sooner.
You should also consider the process involved when it comes to booking your vendors. For many, it can be quite time-consuming. You will need to give yourself time to research, contact and meet with multiple vendors. You’ll also need time to review and compare any quotes that you receive before making a final decision.
If you already know who you want to work with – great! And all the more reason not to delay. It would be most disappointing and frustrating for you to find out they are no longer available. After all, if you want them….so do others!
“Putting off the vendor selection process can create a lot of unneeded stress and frustration.”
Another factor that can play a significant role in this process is your particular wedding date. For instance, if you are getting married on a long weekend in the summer, high demand will likely become a factor. Then again, if you’ve decided to get married on a Tuesday in November, high demand likely won’t be as much of a concern. Chances are that you will experience more flexibility because you’ve picked a less popular and perhaps, off-season, wedding date.
You will also want to consider the location of your wedding. If you’re getting married in a small town or remote location, you may find that your vendor options are limited. Should the more local vendors be booked, you’ll end up having to search outside of the area and may find that some vendors aren’t keen on making the trip or charge heavily to do so.
All in all, putting off the vendor selection process can create a lot of unneeded stress and frustration. Not only could it eat away at your valuable planning time but you may end up having to ‘settle’ with a vendor that isn’t the best fit for you; whether that be in personality, vision or budget.
So although there is no concrete answer for when you should book your vendors, if you have your date and venue…….why wait?
